Сюжет:

Сериал расскажет о жизни и приключениях жизнерадостного и никогда не унывающего подростка Арчи Эндрюса, а также Бэтти Купер, Вероники Лодж и их друзей из Ривердэйла. Действие разворачивается в современном мире, а главные герои решают исследовать сокрытую от посторонних сторону жизни маленького мирного городка со всеми его странностями и тёмными тайнами, прячущимися за праздничным фасадом.

Сериал основан на серии комиксов и их спин-оффов издательства Archie Comic Publications, Inc. - художник Боб Монтана, редактор (и один из основателей издательства) Джон Леонард Голдуотер. Головной убор Джагхеда является более современной версией того, в котором его обычно изображали в комиксах. Там этот персонаж ходил в фетровой шляпе с обрезанными полями - последний крик моды среди американских подростков начала 20-го века. Названия всех серий 1-го сезона заимствованы у фильмов. Изначально это был проект телеканала FOX, но затем перешёл в ведение канала The CW, уже имевшего опыт экранизации комиксов. В сериале показано то же самое кафе, которое фигурировало в фэнтезийном триллере Александра Ажа "Рога" (2013). Кей Джей Апа родом из Новой Зеландии. На съёмочной площадке выяснилось, что говорит он совершенно без акцента. На воротах поместья Блоссомов можно прочесть девиз на латыни Radices currere abyssi, что переводится как "Корни уходят глубоко". Съёмки сериала были организованы в окрестностях Ванкувера, в канадской провинции Британская Колумбия.
